Hair coloring - Hair coloring products generally fall into four categories: temporary, semipermanent, deposit only/demi, and permanent. All these hair color products, except for temporary color, require a patch test before application to determine if the client is allergic to the product.
Hair colorist - In fashion, a colorist is hairstylist that specializes in coloring hair.
Cosmetology - Cosmetology is the treatment of skin, hair and nails and includes, but is not limited to, manicures, pedicures, application of artificial nails, special occasion hairstyling, shampooing hair, cosmetic application, body hair removal, chemical hair relaxers or straighteners, permanent waves, coloring and highlighting of hair, and hair extensions or wig treatments. A person who is licensed in cosmetology is called a cosmetologist.
Hairdresser - A hairdresser is someone whose occupation is to cut or style hair, in order to change or maintain a person's image as they desire. This is achieved using a combination of hair coloring, hair cut and hair texture techniques.
